Honestly, I have been calling myself a Persona fan for a long time despite the fact I have not played P1 to P3. and my P4 was even incomplete. So don't shoot me hard, hardcore fans. :P However, I have the reason to say I like it. You see, I am a fan of mystery/detective type of story. And Persona 4 has really amazed me a lot. The reason I did not finish the game was because I am not the type of gamer who likes to play time-attack based of game. Cause I made me thinks so hard what to do each day so that I don't waste any time, and that caused me to stop playing.. Until I even lost the mood to continue. But I assure you I have completed Persona 5. No worries!
About Persona
I am not sure if it's myself, but somehow I still feel Persona is still underrated in its popularity. If you have not hear about Persona, I will briefly explain what's it about the game.
"Persona" stands for true self. For most cases, one will acquire "Persona" when he/she accepts him/herself. The story will usually start with the Main Character(MC), as a new transfer student to a new town. The MC is the first/second one to acquire Persona and the "chosen one". The MC is like the wild card, unlike other characters, where he will be able to summon any Persona by fusing, while the others will have their own specific Persona. The MC will start with nothing, no friends nor social stat. That's your job to fill in those with the time given.
In every Persona games, we talk about "bonding". It emphasizes a lot of friendship power. The friends you made will give you benefit. And of course the closer you are to them, the better the benefit. Each of your friends will be represented by the tarot cards/arcana. In Persona 5, you may unlock new benefit for each "Confidant Level". And when fusing Persona, you will get bonus exp depending on your current level with that person.
As for the story, usually it will turns into a dark, complicated story with plot twist. Which obviously I won't say much about it here. :) While outside of the story, you will have your own "free" time. What you want to for the free time is your choice, whether it's to increase your social skill, bond with your friend or training your character. Or maybe even getting trophies. Each day, there's two actions you can do regardless it's school day or holiday. Yes, let's called it "Action" for now on so you know how long it will need.
About Persona 5
The moment you starts the game, you will be caught by the police. Here, the MC will talk to the prosecutor (Sae) about what happened before this, event by event. It begins with the MC having false criminal record. He then has to live in another town with new guardian (Sojiro) and enroll in another school. On the first day to school, he accidentally entered another dimension (known as Palace) with his new friend (Ryuji). Soon, they noticed that this Palace was formed from the greed of the people. Taking their most valuable thing (known as treasure) in the Palace will make the owner to lose their desire and confess their sins. With the power to "change heart", they formed the "Phantom Thief" and decided to use their new power to "save" people from people who misuse their power/rank. Obviously as time pass, the team grow bigger and bigger until... The MC got betrayed..
ATLUS took about 10 years to make this series since Persona 4. Well, obviously you can feel how much effort they put into this game. Even the design of the menu looks so beautifully done. But honestly I don't like the theme as much as I like Persona 4. The whole thief theme is cool but it kinda feel weird that someone can actually change of heart all of the sudden. Thanks to how much they developed Makoto, most of the Phantom Thieves members look like background to me. The music is great, no doubt.
About Persona 5 Difficulty
I am currently playing normal difficulty. Honestly, I don't think it's hard. With the confidant ability, I can say that it's as though you are playing cheat compared to other Persona games. Some say you have to play difficulty higher than normal to enjoy the game. I don't have the intention to do so. I am the type of gamer who likes to enjoy the story rather than challenging. I will only challenge myself for the trophies, but not the game difficulty. :P
